Educational partners

The primary role of the school district and high school is to provide the population of students, assist in the screening process, give oversight and approval of the curriculum, and award the graduates of Second Chance the diploma of their school district.

Cooperative Educational Service Agency #1 (CESA #1)

CESA #1 is the employer of record for all teachers and the Coordinator of Instruction for Second Chance. This relationship ensures the quality, integrity, rigor and certification of the educational component.

Local School District

The district provides prospective students, the necessary educational support, and also grants graduates of this program a high school diploma during the graduation commencement ceremony; this by virtue of the competency-based curricula of applied academics and industry-driven skill standards.

State Level Organizations

Second Chance is recognized and supported by the Wisconsin Legislature, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and Department of Workforce Development. The Wisconsin Technical College System has articulation agreements for up to 6 credits in technical degree programs. The University of Wisconsin System recognizes Second Chance and participates directly through the work of UW Whitewater -- College of Education. Additionally, Second Chance has worked with UW Madison Center of Education and Work. Second Chance has been included in the 2005-2007 Wisconsin state budget as a pilot program for state wide replication.
